Project aboard

The project involves deployment of OBS instruments across two branches and the center of the Galapagos triple junction in the eastern central Pacific Ocean. The approximate geographic bounds of the deployment region are 1°S to 6°N, and 105°W to 98°W. The goal is to deploy two arrays of stations over a 3.5-year field season (i.e., one array of 44 stations deployed & recovered together in Y1-Y2 and another array of 38 stations in Y3-Y4). Nominal station deployment durations will be 12-15 months, contingent on ship time and available instrumentation. Fieldwork will also include multibeam mapping and gravimetry in the vicinity of the arrays.
