The Southeast Fishery-Independent Survey carries out fishery-independent surveys of reef-associated fish species in the US South Atlantic. The survey uses baited chevron traps outfitted with video cameras to index reef fish abundance, and CTD casts to determine environmental conditions. Survey data is combined with data from SCDNR to better manage fish species in the region.
