GO-BGC

We propose to use the Sally Ride in ancillary mode for deployment of 2 biogeochemical (BGC) Argo profiling floats in the open ocean outside of the Galapagos EEZ during the SR2412 transit. The floats carry sensors for pH, oxygen, nitrate, chlorophyll, backscatter and irradiance, along with standard Argo temperature and salinity, and they profile every 10 days from the surface to 2000m. Data are fully public and available through the Argo data system.
