Project aboard

Through Award 2305846 under Oceanographic Instrumentation, NSF has funded UAF to replace R/V Sikuliaq's existing EM302 multibeam echosounder (MBES), and upgrade to the Kongsberg EM304 Mark II MBES. As part of the installation, it is necessary to commission the new system by conducting Sea Acceptance Trials (SAT), before it can be considered operational. During the same dry docking period, UAF will also replace the failing receiver array on Sikuliaq's EM710 MBES, therefore a SAT is required for this modified system as well.
