Project aboard
The cruise is a part of the Aquatic Ecology Lab Class, BIEB 135 at UCSD. Students will sample physical and chemical parameters like CTD and take water samples for chlorophyll and zooplankton analysis at 4 stations along a transect of increasing distance from the Point Loma Kelp Forest. We may also collect benthic grab samples at each station. The purpose is to compare the structure of plankton and benthic communities among lakes, rivers, estuaries and the ocean. The other three habitats will be sampled on other field trips.
