Project aboard
EPA plans to conduct sediment monitoring survey at the Mississippi River Southwest Pass Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (SWP ODMDS). The survey will have a science party of up to 8-10 people. The overall objective of the survey is to collect samples of sediments and benthic infauna to be analyzed for biological, chemical, and physical parameters that can be used to evaluate the impact of disposal on the marine environment in and around the Mississippi Southwest Pass ODMDS. The secondary objective of this survey is to collect benthic tissue from areas outside of the influence of dredged material to understand background levels of the contaminants in benthic tissues.
