Svea
Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences · Lars Thorell, Ship Manager
SwedenR/V Svea is primarily used for marine environmental monitoring and fisheries surveys in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. SMHI conducts regular environmental monitoring of the physical, chemical and biological state of the sea, while SLU Aqua uses the vessel for fisheries surveys, including trawling and hydroacoustic measurements. The collected data support national and international marine and fisheries management. Svea is also available for a broad range of marine research activities. Through the national research infrastructure SWERVE and the European research infrastructure AQUARIUS, researchers can access ship time and make use of Svea’s laboratories, sampling systems and advanced scientific equipment for multidisciplinary marine research.
